In December 2020 ISN did the usual Christmas shoebox collection, but with a difference – we expanded on our existing support for the local charitable organisation, Lichtblick.
Lichtblick have continued to support homeless and disadvantaged people in the Neustadt area throughout this whole period, including continuing to operate their soup kitchen during lockdown earlier in 2020, which is an amazing achievement. However, due to coronavirus, Lichtblick were unable to do many things in the “normal” way, including giving Christmas gifts to local people in need. Our Primary LPs decided that they wanted to focus on giving gifts to local disadvantaged children, while our older LPs chose to provide support in a different way by donating packaged non-perishable food items to the Lichtblick foodbank, helping local people in need at Christmas time. We also had some donations of clothing for the charity shop. On 15 December 2020 Lichtblick came to collect our shoeboxes, food items and clothing. The Learning Partners loved helping to load the items in the van, and we even had a journalist and photographer here from the local newspaper! Thank you to all our parents for your generosity!
