The entire ISN community took part in Book Week this March - a five-day event which focuses on promoting a love of reading. The event kicked off with teachers coming to school dressed as book characters and then lps took part in the ‘Story as a School’ activity. Each teacher brought in an interesting or unusual object and started creating a story with their class using the object. The stories were then emailed to the next class which continued it, incorporating their teacher’s object. The activity let our lps get creative and helped produce a lot of comical stories.
The week also included D.E.A.R. (drop everything and read) time along with a competition to decorate classroom doors based on their favourite books. Lps got to come to school in their pjs and took part in ‘buddy reading.’ The fun-filled week included a book fair organised by Usborne Publishing, and ended with an assembly during which lps could be dressed as their favourite book characters. The event also included a fantastic performance of the book ‘Caps for Sale’ by Y1-2 during the Friday assembly. Thank you to Cara Shaw (Y1-2 Homeroom) who led the organisation of the week, and to all parents, staff and lps who helped ISN foster our reading culture!
